Granville-Barker, Harley
(25 nov. 1877, Londres, Inglaterra–31 ago. 1946, París, Francia).

Productor, dramaturgo y crítico británico. Comenzó a actuar a la edad de 15 años, y en 1901, escribió y dirigió su primera obra, El matrimonio de Ann Leete. Tiempo después como director general del Court Theatre (1904–07) produjo muchas de las primeras obras de George Bernard Shaw, así como obras de Henrik Ibsen, Maurice Maeterlinck y John Galsworthy. También produjo obras propias como La herencia de Voysey (1905) y Waste (1907). Influyó en el teatro del s. XX con sus puestas en escena naturalistas de las obras de Shakespeare, que se caracterizaron por ser ininterrumpidas, representadas en un escenario con proscenio, y con parlamentos rápidos y carentes de pomposidad. Se trasladó a París después de la primera guerra mundial y ahí escribió la colección de libros de crítica Introducción a Shakespeare (1927–46).
